“Asyoulike”, stone freely interpreted

Backed up by a great tradition of stone quarrying and masonry, Pimar is at the Salone del Mobile in Milan to present its capacity for producing high quality products, thanks to cutting edge technologies, a specialized workforce and expert craftsmen. This experience has enabled the firm to increasingly perfect the technical processes necessary to produce authentic works of design, in its search for the perfect balance between the mass, weight and form of objects destined for the world of interior furnishing. This design precept, flanked by the concept of unfettered and creative interpretation, underlies the "asyoulike" table base proposal.

“Scogli Innamorati” and “Scilla e Cariddi” are the first two table base projects for the “asyoulike”product line in Pimar natural stone, designed by architect Toti Semerano and composed of two or more elements which, when grouped together, give way to an infinite number of furnishing solutions.

Thanks to a study effected by Pimarin during the
“Milestone” summer school, in collaboration with an Industrial Design research team from Bari Polytechnic, a software has been created to enable the virtual combination of these elements to satisfy specific customer requirements. Generative Lithic Design makes use of a complex system of algorithms from which it is possible to obtain variations on the basic model by intervening on variables such as thicknesses, heights, angle of inclination: the data thus generated is loaded onto a web platform in order to visualize the three-dimensional preview. The designer chooses which parameters the user may interact with, in order to provide infinite possibilities of personalization, while also ensuring manufacturing feasibility. The project is complete when the company headquarters receives an executive file ready for prototyping and production on numerically controlled machines.
