Messàpo Chaise Longue

Messàpo Chaise Longue
Noii studio

This series of sectional modules belonging to the Messàpo collection is fruit of a collaboration between Pimar and designers Luca Paolo Vasa and Francesco Di Luzio of the Noii Design Studio. Pimar’s propensity to engage in an on-going process of experimentation has led to an interesting interpretation of the dry stone walls typical of the Salentine peninsula, whose construction technique has remained unchanged down through the centuries. It is a structure made of squarish blocks arranged in a horizontal fashion. With Pimar, tradition becomes contemporary design: with a name inspired by the Messapians - an ancient civilization that used to inhabit the area of Salento –it is a project conceived for both indoor and outdoor applications. The two types of modules produced, explain the designers, “have been studied according to anthropometric parameters which correspond to the design intent to establish the conditions for an unfettered and creative fruition, thus making their use an intuitive one”.

Modularity promotes the end-user to being the architect of his own living space: in fact, Messàpo allows for the creation of various functional structures which may be used to furnish interiors, hospitality structures, gardens or community spaces with personality, by allocating new functions to the product which can now be transformed – in the free combination of its modules – into a bookcase, a desk, seating, flat rest tops or coffee tables. The modules may in fact be taken apart, reassembled and rearranged as required.
